Mortgage Cocktail is the freshman effort of credit market and insolvency expert Steve Curnutte. Slated to be published in 2009, the book presents a well constructed argument for Curnutte’s oft quoted perspective on how the housing market triggered the economic collapse and what to do to fix it.
From the earliest stages of the credit crisis in 2007, Curnutte demonstrated again and again a willingness to take risks with his predictions, to challenge conventional wisdom, and to posit new ideas. These include early calls for a suspension of mark to market accounting, recomendations for debt forgiveness and tax deductions as principal drivers for mortgage modification, and fiscal policy changes to motivate private capital from the sidelines for economic reconstruction.
